Comments: We needed a sidewalk for our garage to the front door, about 80 feet, overlaying the slabs of flat rock that were relatively uneven. Glen called when he got informed by HomeAdvisor and came out the same day. We agreed on what needed to be done, the price and the timing. A few days later, Glen and his crew showed up within 10 minutes of the agreed time. They set out the forms and adjusted them to my satisfaction. The next afternoon, as agreed to, they poured the sidewalk, finished the surface, stripped the forms, cleaned up the area and were done. The only setback was the first 1/2 rain we have had in months required them to cover the concrete in plastic in the middle of the pour. Wolfe Concrete is knowledgeable, reasonable and responsive - great job.

Comments: Locally, bids are normally quoted only in number of square feet area desired. Most local contractors pour a 3-4" thick slab reinforced with using something like 6" x 8" rectangular mesh. Wolfe Concrete normally does a 4-5" slab with rebar throughout which will cost more. My current driveway is the constructed like the former and is already breaking up. So best to get the job done right this time and pay the price. I'm tired of hassling with these guys to get a "better" deal. Which ever way one goes, one gets what they pay for. The concrete contractor, Glenn Wolfe, made a pre-bid site visit about 10 days before work began. I found him to be a no-BS kind of person with no attempt to "sweet-talk" me into doing anything extra; he directly laid out the reasons for what he recommended. The general scope of work included: � Ground preparation and grading for proper drainage � Forms layout � Trenching for the periphery turndown beam � Rebar laying, tying, and doweling � Concrete pouring � Surface finishing, edging, and expansion control joint grooving � Forms removal and cleanup Given this, he called me later that day and gave me a bid that was very close to the final price. He stated that he does not ask prepayment (in whole or in part) and accepts personal checks for payment due upon completion of work. Some particulars: � Slab Thickness: 4" to 5" � Concrete Strength Rating: 3,000 psi � Reinforcement: No. 3 rebar (1/2") set at 16" on-center, doweled into the edge of the existing concrete driveway apron. � A turndown beam all around the three exposed edges. Work covered only two days, starting on a Friday morning, with concrete pour and completion on the following Monday. This crew of five workmen is very skilled and well-oiled, each knowing what to do and doing it in an efficient coordinated manner, adapting to conditions as they arise. As with any construction project there will always be some disruption to the immediate surrounding area. The crew kept it to a very minimum and cleaned up the work area as well as possible, leaving no trash or construction material. I am very pleased with the performance of Wolfe Concrete. I expected top-quality work for my money and that is what I received. I recommend to prospective customers that Wolfe Concrete be considered the contractor of choice.
